You know one thing? I really hate these superstar guys. Apart from the fact, that they go around with equally streamlined dolls like Jolie and Ryan, you can see them ever so often on the Internet or the idjit box, displaying their white fangs and murmuring so dulcetly, “oh, my exercise routine? Het, there is absolutely nothing to it, anybody can do it…” (liars!!!) What they mean to say is that anybody who has the time and the energy to work out for two hours every day on punishing exercise routines -and cuts this line from his daily prayer, “give us today our daily bread,” because you have to modify your diet,- can get those amazingly sexy abs.

Hey, I am not a superstar. In fact I am the original average Joe, who cannot be bothered to set myself to such Herculean tasks. Well, if I manage to press the buttons on the remote, that is a staggering and phenomenal achievement in itself. And yet, the moment I look at the six-packs sported by those smooth sleek specimens, I want to go out and punch something. Or someone, who has come onto the Internet yet once again.

But they are bigger than I, Gunga Din. So I have to fall back on finding out the most effective ab exercises for me. One day I am going to get that 6 pack which is going to get me a second look on the beach, by a beautiful blonde clad in red running towards me in slow motion; she is then going to save me from drowning. (One can always dream, cannot one.) So to achieve that stage, here are some of the most effective abs exercises, which you want to try out.

***Here are some points which you would want to look at, before you go in for this exercise routine. These abdominal exercise routines are for beginners, so they come into the “really easy to do” category. You might want to put a towel under the hip region to support the lower back portion. If you have any sort of back problems, or any health problem which is going to be aggravated with a little bit of strain, do not do these exercises. Nobody’s forcing you to do them. And if you are conscious of not being so streamlined with rippling abs, like crocodile, up there on the Internet, click the mouse and navigate away from the page. Start with a little bit of light cardio like running and jogging as a warm-up. Do these exercises 5 to 10 times, without exhausting yourself.***

Now to the exercises… these are called crunches, because you can feel your old bones crackling with a “crunch” sound, if your body is not flexible enough. Anyway, you are going to lie down on your back placing your interlaced fingers behind your head. Bend your legs. Now lift your shoulder blades and try to touch them to your lower belly area. Slowly, slowly… A newbie is going to find the going hard, but it really starts building up the muscles in the abdominal area.

Now, many people are going to be disappointed because they have been doing crunches for ever so long, but still cannot see any sort of sight of those sexy washboard ripples. That is because they are hidden behind the layer of blubber. This blubber can be got rid of by jogging, swimming, and walking. Once it starts to melt away, you are slowly going to see those muscles appearing like banshees in the eerie dusk.

The next effective ad workout are reverse crunches which you might want to try out. Lie down on your back and contract your abdominal muscles. Hold your knees with your interlaced fingers. Now bring your knees to your stomach and rib cage area at the same time, try to raise your pelvic region upwards. I know about guys who do these exercises 100 times a day, but they must be punishing themselves for some unknown reason. I never do them for more than 10 counts. Hey, I am not going in for the Mr. Universe competition. I just want some run of the mill wolf whistles and appreciation.

I tried another exercise routine which is extremely easy to do. Lie on your back on the exercise mat. Now bend your knees and cross one foot (supposed left) over the other knee. Extend one arm straight out to your side while placing the other arm around your head. You are supporting your neck with this arm. Now lift up both the shoulder blades while keeping the lower back pressed on the mat. Now curl one shoulder (right — opposite to the crossed leg) and your right elbow diagonally towards your left foot. The idea is to exercise your abdominal muscles. Repeat this exercise for both sides as many times as you can. If you feel a pressure on the neck, you can support the neck and head region with both your hands.

When somebody told me about the plank exercise as one of the most effective ab exercises going on in training session routines, I had this crazy idea of pirates and walking the plank. Yup, you can consider it to be somewhat like crawling the plank. You are going to place your elbows on the exercise mat. Now rest your body on your knees. Then slowly straighten out your body in such a manner that your head, back and legs are in a straight line. Hold this position for just a couple of seconds. Remember that your body weight is being supported by your elbows.

Do not do this exercise if you have a bad back. Some specimens go to the limit of putting some weight on their backs, but do me a favor. I do not do it, and you should also not do it. Just imagine doing a tough looking exercise and then adding to your problems by making it even more complicated. Nyaa, I like my life simple!

Last but not the least. I love this exercise; it is called the dead bug. Lie on your back with your arms extended above the head. Now raise one leg and one arm. Bring back to the original position. Do the same for the other leg and the other arm. So keep doing this acting like a bug exercise still someone comes and turns you over, so that you can scutter away back to your hole :-)

So, these are the most effective ab exercises, going in the Internet stratosphere… so start doing them, right away!
