Now for all those health-conscious people out there, who are trying their best to get 6 pack abs but really cannot manage to start on proper workout training and fitness programs, here is some important info. If you are like me you are likely to break out regularly into a fit of the shivers the moment somebody says: “Your ball exercises for abs fitness training programme starts tomorrow,”… you know what I mean.

You would rather spend 3 hours in front of the computer, looking at the different flat stomach exercise programs, and trying to discover benefits of abs workout programs to help you lose body fat offered to you there. Nearly all of these exercise routines have the encouraging statement, “burn stomach fat and build muscle without any trouble” somewhere in the small print. (Hooray, no sweating! And that means no results in the long run. :-) )

But all those workouts and training exercises need to be done with a little pain for that extra muscular gain. Of course, the results are stunning; you will lose all that belly fat and you lose weight, and you will gain all those wolf whistles.

Now you know me. I am of that sort, who bends down and touches my slippers 25 times early in the morning. Then I get out of bed and put them on. So guys, here are the tips and tricks, which are going to help you get those rippling six pack abs like… what is his name… Pitt. Most people do not know that his flat stomach and rippling abs came from a weight training routine fitness program, which prevented him from eating potato chips and drinking beer for a whole year (talk about cruelty to dumb animals!)

Why, I would rather look at other sensible options, with which I can get rid of all that cellulite, in a proper methodical fashion. So guys, here goes. Before you start on any exercise routine in the gym, trying out supposedly important and effective weight training programs, ask your doctor whether the program is right for you. If you are working out with weights, he might suggest that you do not do so if you have a bad back.

But hey, we are using a ball for getting those rippling abs. Yes, there are some people who put weights on their backs during that workout routine, but personally, I think that to be a punishment up with which I shall not put!

Starting with you as a beginner, here are some daily techniques, which can start your ab muscles growing really fast! Not only are they going to increase your stamina, and make your body more flexible, but you are not going to find your exercise routine boring either. (And that is one thing, which kills an exercise routine stone dead – monotony, ho hum, yawn!)

Get all your muscles moving at different angles, with these techniques. First, lie down flat on the exercise mat (hey, I am a poet and I did not even know it). Place this exercise ball between ankles. Now, lift up your legs ceiling wards. Not only is this a good leg exercise, but it is going to be strengthening the tummy muscles. Repeat this 10 times, and do this exercise 3 times a week. Increase the number of exercises as your leg muscles grow stronger and the fat gets melted off your tum.

Exercise ball crunches are going to consist of just sitting on the exercise ball (make sure that it is steady, and you do not go rolling around the gym floor with it). And then just do 20 crunches. Easy does it! This exercise needs to be done 2 to 3 times a week. Do not over strain yourself, being very enthusiastic, right at the very beginning. This way, boredom lies!

Many people enjoy the following exercise routine really well. Lie down flat, etc etc (the poet strikes again) , and place feet on the top of your exercise ball. Now try to lift up the hips (ooooh!) pull the exercise ball inwards, just using heels. Place the ball underneath your posterior. This is a tricky exercise, which beginners are going to find difficult to do, because their muscles are not so very well-trained. But this is the best way for working out your abdominal muscles and your leg muscles!

Exercise ball push-ups are going to consist of placing the ball underneath the feet, when you are lying in a push-up position. This is tricky, especially when you have to do the balancing, but if you have the patience, the effort is well worth the resulting loud phweeeets!

Here is another abs workout exercise routine, which I find very enjoyable. Act like a cheerleader! Just put on some music, stand straight with the ball held out at arm’s length. Then start lifting this routine by lifting a knee and touching the ball with it. Come back to original position, and then touch the other knee to the ball. You will not have enough of energy to do the cheering simultaneously, “fat, fat, stay away, go and pester some other –hummmphhh- non-exercising guy.” (Note that I did not rhyme this doggerel with “gay.” :-) My poetry ain’t so controversial!)

Those ball sit-ups and crunches make your muscles grow really well. The more you exercise, the more they grow, but they are hidden behind that floppy flab. So, you have to burn away that extra fat, by maintaining a proper diet. Eat lesser calories than what you burn, while exercising. Do not do the sit ups on a full stomach, unless you want to go through a throw up routine. These exercises are best done early in the morning. That means your metabolism has a chance to shake itself and start working actively. You are also going to find yourself full of energy and pep, after you go through these strength building ball exercise for abs movements!

For all those health-conscious people out there who think that it is extremely easy to get back into shape with just a little bit of changing your diet, a little bit of exercise, and a little bit of trying to change your sedentary lifestyle into something more active, I have just one word to say “Balls.” And I am not being profane, whatever you may think! You would be surprised to know that there is a way in which you can get that oooh la la shape, without being completely skeletal (you just need to look at Mrs. Beckham to know what I mean…); and that can be done by a medicine ball ab workout.

Medicine balls have been around for a long time. People who did not use them to exercise reached the stage when they had to use medicine pills and pay medicine bills. So naturally, you as a health-conscious person are going to ask me one thing — how much does a medicine ball cost and where can I get it? The answer is, ask your friendly neighborhood trainer if he has any ball lurking around in some corner of his gym which you can borrow. And if he says “balls,” just do not lose your temper!

Now that you have found the medicine ball of your choice, remember that it is not a modern innovation. These balls were used more than thousand years ago as exercise mediums by people who wanted to keep fit. To tell you very frankly, the first thing I visualized when somebody spoke to me about medicine balls was this huge heavy ball, being aimed right at my solar plexus and I subsiding like a balloon expelling air to the slow sound of oooooooof! You could not be more mistaken. Medicine balls may be heavy, but there are not so heavy that you do not use them easily. So your priorities are to look for an easy to do medicine ball ab workout, is not it?

This ball is going to give you more core strength, balance your body, stabilize it, give you explosive power, in fact make you a human dynamo yaddah yaddah, blahblahblah. Everybody says that, even my friendly neighborhood trainer. Well, I told you guys, I hate exerting myself in any sort of exercise which leaves me feeling like a limp sponge at the end of the exercise session. But I am looking forward to any sort of easy to do exercise which gives me those six packs which are normally seen in Batman and Robin’s molded rubber suits.

So the moment I get the balls in my hand, I begin to think about ways and means in which I can use them for a really effective ab workout. The only problem with the ball is that it does not stay put in one place. That is the reason why I need to keep crawling after it, until the wall catches it. After that it sits still, while I sit on it, roll around on it, and try all sort of seemingly absurd stunts on it. But hey, these activities come under the category of toning up exercises, which are doing all the parts of my body a heap lot of good. (Catch that ball for me will ya!) These balls are filled with sand and are not hard. So even if I catch one of them straight with my tummy, I am not going to subside with a woooof like a stranded goldfish.

So here we come to the medicine ball ab exercise workouts, which are going to activate all my muscle groups. Before I start on any sort of medicinal ball exercise routine, I do a little bit of warming up with the medicine ball twist. For this, I just need a medicine ball and a step up. Now holding the medicine ball in my hands, I step up, with one leg (say my left leg) onto the step, now I lift up my right knee and the medicine ball and twisting to the right, try to make my left elbow touch the right knee. Now I lower myself really slowly to my original position. Then I step up with my left foot, and repeat the exercise again. You know, balancing on the step is all. But this is definitely going to do wonders to your ab muscles.

After I have done a little bit of this exercise for warm-up purposes, I come to the serious stuff. I am now going to use the medicine ball for sit-ups. Apart from working out my abs, it is excellent for my arms, shoulders and even chest. Lie down with your knees bent at 90°, with the medicine ball relaxing on your tummy. Now raise the upper part of your body, trying to cover the medicine ball. Go back to original position and repeat exercises until you really get tired of lying down and sitting up. Well, you have to pay a price to get those fab abs!

So now that you know enough information about easy to do exercise routines with medicine balls to get started, here are some precautions. Do not buy really heavy medicine balls. Do not do these exercise routines without a little bit of warming or on a full stomach. (Of course, if you are bulimic and want to get rid of everything that you have eaten in a justifiable manner, be my guest and stuff yourself before this exercise routine!) The best thing about medicine ball routines is that if you do not like any routine, you can try out your own experimentations as long as you do not exert your body over much. So next time somebody says “balls” to you, give him a thumbs-up and say that yes, they were responsible for your rippling abs, no pun intended and genetics withstanding!
